How Picado Works

Record the way you normally talk, stumbles included. Picado cuts the parts you’d cut yourself, and you check the edit before you download the video.

1. Record Your Take

Picado works on videos of one person talking to the camera. When you trip over a line, pause and say it again instead of starting over. A video can be one recording or several clips, up to 10 minutes in all.

2. Upload It

On Your Videos, Picado’s home screen, tap Upload a Video and pick the recording. If it’s in several clips, tap Make One Video From Several Clips and pick them all. They open on the New Video page, where you can change their order before you press Make the Video. On a computer you can also drag the recording, or several clips at once, straight onto Your Videos.

3. Picado Makes the Edit

Picado goes through your take word by word. It cuts the restarts, the long pauses and filler words like um and uh, and when you say a line twice it keeps one of them. Then it adds captions. Nothing you said gets reworded, and no words are added.

The video’s page shows how far along the edit is and how long is left. You don’t have to wait there, because Picado emails you when the edit is ready to review.

4. Check the Edit

When the edit is ready, the same page becomes the review page. Your words appear with the cuts crossed out. Tap a crossed-out part to bring it back, or tap words to take out a little more.

Each video has a Show Captions switch. Turn on the TikTok or Instagram overlay to see where the captions land, and set their size, height and highlight color in Settings.

Recordings over 3 minutes come back as a 3-minute version unless you change that in Settings. It keeps your main points and drops the side stories, so the video fits Shorts and Reels. To get the whole recording, switch the video to Full on its page, which never counts as another video.

5. Download It

Press Looks Good and Picado makes the finished file. You can leave while it does, and an email tells you when it’s ready. On an iPhone, Save Video opens the share menu, so you can save it to Photos or send it to TikTok or Instagram. On other phones and computers, it downloads.

Changed your mind? Edit Again takes the video back to review. Picado doesn’t post anything for you yet, so you post the video yourself.
